Heyy it's Shekiera Brooks speaking aka Tupac. We are currently on christmas break and it's sad too say, but I can't wait until school starts. There is literally no one on campus and I feel like I'm in a scary movie. Besides that we get a lot of free food which is awesome. We ate at this place moosehead which is the best place I've ever been too. Today coach is having something at her house. I'm not sure what it is but there's going to be food there so I' ll be there. Then tomorrow we're eating at tali tomorrow I can't wait for that. Off topic here but the bus rides are fun!! We watch the best movies, and it's funny too see the way people sleep on the bus. I know I'm a creep but it just cracks me up. We play a bunch of games because all of the bus rides seems like they're never going to end. I literally think that every bus ride is ten hours. The season is going. We're going to end this season on a strong note. THAT IS ALL FOLKS xoxox Baby Tupac #11

Countdown!

Otterbein TOMORROW!
Christmas 4 days!
Michigan 6 days!

The Yellow Jackets are in full swing and are preparing day by day, practice by practice and possession by possession for our tasks at hand. Finals are through, grades are in and we have been on Christmas break for a week now. Over this past week, we have gone to out to dinner at Buca and Moosehead (new found favorite of mine), and helped those campers at Camp Cheerful, gone to breakfast at Bob Evans (a personal favorite) and Perkins. Tomorrow, we will host Otterbein, then it is on to celebrate a win and Christmas! After the holiday we will be travelling to Hope Michigan where we will play in two games! I am looking forward to all these exciting events coming up!

Merry Christmas!

CHRISTMAS BREAK

Hello Lady Yellow Jackets & Friends!

It is the first friday of break! I love thinking that we should have had class all week, but thanks to Christmas break, we have been able to relax and focus on basketball! So far we have been out to eat at some pretty yummy places, including this Moosehead something er another restaurant. It is easily one of my favorite restaurants ever. I got a Moosini. In case anyone was wondering. We jsut got done with practice and now have some free time before we hit up Tony K's. I think that all the free food has got to be my favorite part of break. And the team bonding, duh.  Our christmas party isn't until after christmas this year, but that will be alright. Now we have more time for us to practice our skit.  Or plan our skit, because we really have no idea what we are doing so far.  (Every year the freshamn and the upperclassman each put on a skit at the party).  I would also like to say that I'm beginning to be addicted to mario kart on the wii in the locker room. It is too fun. And with all of the downtime, the mario kart theme song is pretty much on constantly in the locker room. But I'm totallllllyyyy not complaining. I love it. Tomorrow we have a huge game vs otterbein. This exact same game 2  years ago was one of my all time favorite games as a player.   We were down by at least 20 points in the second half and fought our way back to being only down three! Then Captain America, Rachel Rossman, got fouled on a three pointer as time expired. She made all three free throws to send it into overtime, and the Lady Jackets won (that whole play by play was in Eddy Jansen's voice.. a.k.a voice of the lady yellow jackets).
Though that game was fantastic, I must say that I would like it more if we just beat them by 35-40 points. Merry Christmas!

Christmas Break Fun!

Hey everyone!
It's been a busy break for the Lady Yellow Jackets! The great thing is that most of our time is spent eating, sleeping, and playing basketball. Otherwise the passed two weeks we have visited Camp Cheerful together and hung out with all the super cute campers! They also came to our game to watch us defeat Wilmington as they cheered us on and help up the awesome signs we all made together.  We also helped out at the BW annual Christmas Party and canned food drive to help collect cans, it was all fun and games until two BW party guests got stuck in the handicap elevator :( it took about 20 minutes to get them out. which was scary, but they got out safely and enjoyed the rest of the party :)

Today is the first big snow fall of December!! Some people are excited, others are not haha guess that means Christmas time is officially here :) Tomorrow we face Otterbein at home, and will obviously win and beat their butts! After taking care of business we have a nice couple days off and we are back at it and traveling to Hope, Michigan. Two years ago my freshmen year when we went, it was so much fun and such a beautiful campus! Playing in there gym makes it seem like its an NBA game, its so big and fancy! My favorite part of the trip besides the game will of course be all the yummy foods we stop to eat along with if there is any spare time for shopping :) Well I hope everybody continues to cheer us on and has a wonderful holiday break with their family! Hope Santa treats everybody right :)

Christmas time is here!

Hey everyone!

Well it is a week until Christmas...but there is still no snow:( I love Christmas and snow and everything to do with winter! I am just wishing for a little snow on Christmas (and 2 wins before Christmas :P ).  This past weekend (after a good win over Wilmington) my family and I went to the Christmas Story House in downtown Cleveland.  It was such a fun experience!  It looked just like the original set and everything!  To add to the Christmas spirit, me and my brother attempted to make gingerbread houses last weekend as well.  The key word here is attempt.... We got our houses put together, but when we tried to decorate them, they just fell apart...so my brother just ended up eating them! It was still really fun to spend time with my brother though!

Speaking of my brother, we might have a future Yellow Jacket on our hands!:) He got accepted to BW and he came up on Thursday for a football visit! (I may be pushing for him to come here...just maybe...)

Anyways...here are some pictures from this weekend! The first one I am pretending to lick the flag pole like the little kid does in the Christmas Story! (notice the lack of snow...), the second one is my salvaged gingerbread houses! I think they turned out pretty decent. And the last picture is my family at the Christmas Story house!

Well this is all I have for you! Merry Christmas and AWWWWW JACKETS!

Hello everyone!!

Well all of the lady jackets have seemed to survive finals week, and happy to be on Christmas break! I know personally it is exciting to be able to have a month of from school work to revamp my brain for next semester. However, my spring semester will be very different for me because I will be doing my student teaching. I am very excited to student teach, it will be a fun learning experience that brings me closer to graduation in May!

Also, last Friday we had a yummy dinner at Buca, followed by a very fun evening at Camp Cheerful. It was SO awesome to get to hang out with the campers again. We played bingo and then we made signs with them to bring to the game on Saturday. Just in case you were wondering, the sign making turned out fantastic.
I was lucky to hang out with Rob, in the picture below we are coloring our awesome sign!

Hello everyone, my name is Janaya and I'm a freshman. So far i love it here at BW and it's been such a great experience. If you follow our team you know that we are having and okay season so far but it is getting better each day. I absolutely love my team and the chemistry we share. If you have read Rachel's blog a couple months ago, you probably saw that she said she was trying to fit XBox time in her schedule. Well, she finally did, after about six months of broken promises. I finally played Black Ops II with her and i realized why she didnt want me to play with her... she's not too good. But its okay. Also, some of the freshman(Allyson, Alissa and I) are currently and always will be the masters of pranking. 4-0. I am enjoying my winter break without classes and I'm looking forward to keep winning and enjoying the company of my teammates before its time to graduate :( Byeeeeeeeeeeeee

this is a picture of Mine and partially Rachel's  former Pup :) her name was Tanner and i thought i would show you how cute she was

One More Week!

Hello everyone!

I cannot believe that we are already a month into our basketball season, it seems like conditioning was just yesterday.  But we are all glad that is over with, that's for sure.  This season is flying by and I am lucky to have the teammates that I do.  We also seem to have a blast when we get together and I cannot wait until Christmas break when we can hang out and play basketball.

As everyone can see from the pictures coach posted the other day, our team attended the Adapted Ed Dance.  I don't think I have ever had as much fun in my life at a dance.  Seeing all of the people dancing, making gingerbread men, human mummies, and picture frames for their pictures was an amazing feeling.  Shari even got to hold her new friend Brandon's hand as he left the dance to complete his perfect night! :)

As the semester finally comes to an end, finals week arrives.  Let's say I am not enjoying finals week and it hasn't fully arrived, as I know must of you feel the same way.  However, once this week is over you can bet we will spend the entire month off making memories together.  This season may not have started off how we hoped but I believe we will succeed in the end because we manage to find fun in everything we do together and that will pay off in the end!

Winners at Life

So tonight our team spent time at the Candy Land Dance.  It's an event the Adapted PE class led by Marianne Mangan puts on for special needs kids and adults. There are activities and a dance. Our kids aren't in the class but took it upon themselves to do this. We  may not win every game, but these kids are definitely winners in life!!!  Can't say enough about them. I may get frustrated when we don't do the things we work on all the time, but I couldn't be more proud of who they are as people.

THE BALDWIN WALLACE

Hey everyone! As many of you know we won our first tournament in Franklin, Indiana a few weeks ago, and I think everyone could say we are all very excited for our first conference game coming up against Ohio Northern University on December 5th! The seniors have been so great this year and we are all ready to work our butts off and get them a conference title and ring! :)

Although we love our seniors, some of the freshmen (Janaya, Shekiera, and Alissa) including myself, started a prank war with them! We toilet papered their house, duct taped their doors shut, wrote on their windows, and wrote and toilet papered all over Rachel's car! Then we went out to dinner one night and decided to prank them again, and knocked on their windows and doors to scare them and boy did it work... We could hear Jess screaming! The seniors have yet to retaliate, so all of us are a little bit on edge. Needless to say the freshmen squad is winning this prank war against the seniors 2-0 baby!

The semester is ending which means finals, papers, and project are all piling up, but this also means Christmas break!!! The next two weeks are going to be stressful, but I am counting down the days until we get to have a month away from school and just get to hang out with the team and play basketball! :)

Champions of the WORLD

Howdy followers!

As most of you already know, we traveled to Franklin College in Indiana this past weekend for their Tip-Off Classic. Our first opponent was Ohio Wesleyan and obviously, we won. The following day we then played Franklin for the championship and man was that an ugly win! A win is a win though! In between games Coach Campbell took a bus load of us shopping at the outlet malls just a few miles away and I think everybody left with atleast one or two bags! I think Amber took the award for most things bought and she was basically in one store the entire time! I havenever seen someone soooo excited to be in a Nike Outlet store before. Our student coach, Jon, and coach Bailey even went and had a little man date on their own. Even though we didn't get stuck on the minibus this year, it was probably as bad if not worse than last year. The 6 hour bus rides truly make you go a little bit insane. The things that go on on the bus probably aren't what a normal team does, but hey, that's what makes this team so enjoyable and fun to be around! Whether it be the Ipod game, peanut butter challenge, Rachel crawling through the storage things on top of the bus or wathcing Magic Mike, this team always manages to find fun in everything we do!

Tonight we travel to Case for our third game of the year searching for that perfect 3 and 0 record! Hope everyone can make it out! Enjoy your Thanksgiving and your time with your loved ones!! Gobble Gobble

The Season is Almost Here!

Hey everyone! The season is starting in less than a week and we begin by traveling to Indiana for our first tournament! I can't believe how fast this year is going we're almost done with one semester already and it feels like I just came here yesterday. We have worked so hard to get where we're at right now and it has payed off in our last two scrimmages because we played well together and won against Tiffin and Notre Dame. I'm so excited for the regular season to start and can't wait for us to do amazing this year because I know we will perform well and we can only get better as the season continues. The talent and chemistry on this team is awesome I couldn't have asked for a better team or a better group of friends. :) I'm looking forward to a great season and we're going to perform our best for the seniors this year because this season is for them.

The Hive is Buzzinggggg

Hi there! It's getting to be that time of the year again! The preseason is done, our scrimmages are done, and we are working hard in practice to get ready for our first tournament in Indiana! (T-11 days) This week has been interesting with Hurricane Sandy hitting campus hard.  We didn't have class for 4 days, and we practiced in the dark! I am just glad that everyone here got by rather unscathed. I am really excited for games to start so we can show everyone just how hard we have been working! Andddd that's all I have for now! Time to go to bed so I get some sleep before my test tomorrow (medical terminology...woo!)

Oh, and here's a lovely picture of some of the team cleaning up the stadium after a football game. Aren't our ponchos awesome??

2 and 0 Baby!

 Hello JacketNation,
I know I was totally supposed to blog a solid two weeks ago, but I was just waiting until there was lots to talk about, ya know? So practices have started out pretty amazing, and we are now about 11 practices in. 2 of which were in the dark, compliments of Hurricane Sandy.  I propose routine practices in the dark, because we did sweeeeeet at our scrimmages! A wise man once said, "If you can catch a ball in the dark, you are going to be Michael Jordan in the light". Or something like that.  So yes, last Thursday we traveled out to Tiffin for Game 1.  I know, its only technically a scrimmage but we are valuing every minute of playing time this year as though it is a national championship. The dragons have handed it to us for the past two years I've been here, but Thursday they had no clue what hit them.   Everyone coming together even though we have been taken out of post-season play, it was a great feeling.  It really just enforced the fact that we are going to have a remarkable year, no matter what anyone on the outside tries to do! The momentum carried over to Sunday night's scrimmage (Game 2) vs Notre Dame College.  It was a close game for a while, but eventually NDC couldn't keep up. Meltdown baby, meltdown.
Our competitive spirit and love of the game and each other has already carried us over the breaking point. We had a decision: fall apart or play every game as hard as possible. I think its pretty clear which one we chose.

The power is back!

We were lucky enough last week to not have classes Tuesday through Friday due to the massive storm! I hope everyone was able to stay safe, warm, and dry. Everyone finally has power on campus and we are back to going to classes. I absolutely love walking to classes in the fall (minus the cold). The trees and leaves are beautiful and the apple cider is icing on the cake. Anyway, I hope everyone is enjoying BW so far :) The team chemistry we have this year is amazing and I am so proud of how far we have come in just a few weeks.
Our first game is next week.....time flies!! I'm so excited for the freshman because when I was a freshman (just last year) traveling was one of my favorite things about this team. We travel a number of times this year and I am looking forward to the trips :) Shout-out to the seniors Rachel, Jess, Megan, Nancy, and Amber! I cannot wait to be the best that we can be this year for you guys.
Stay classy!

One More....Fooooorrrreeevvvveeerrrr!!

Hello everyone! So tomorrow we have our final day of boot camp! It’s known as the gauntlet but meg, jess, larry and I just like to call it 1, 2, 3, 12! On Sunday we all had the privilege to run 20 suicides and everyone danced their way through it. (Literally) Besides our awesome conditioning my classes have been really busy. I’m taking all major courses so I can’t slack on any of them. I’m trying to fit in important X-Box time with Janaya but haven’t been able to yet. Clearly she is getting mad at me because she denominated me for love last week. Ouch. Other than that I love my team! We are a whole different group with a lot of new faces but they all fit right in. Practice starts Sunday at midnight and our first game is in just over a month. I cannnn’t wait!!! Alright well time for bed so I can be in the gym by six!!

HEYYOOO seasons almost here

I would like to start this blog by apologizing, because pup and I were going to do a rap about our team but then ran out of time, so instead we had to write separate blogs.  The rap will come at some point, but not during midterms.  To all of our fans, we are very sorry.

So I just finished my second midterm of the year, and I am a much happier camper! Speaking of camp, we are almost done with BOOT CAMP!!! Which makes me a very happy camper.  Everyone has been doing an unbelievable job so far this season, and it is very exciting to see the level of commitment to the program from returners and newcomers alike.  We only have one more day of running, which will be nothing compared to the 20 suicides that we did on Sunday night.  No, that was not a typo, we did 20 you guys!! Pretty awesome, but I am super glad that it's over.

In other jacket news, Homecoming is this weekend.  I'm gonna plug my roommate here, JoBeth Roll (YJ4L), because she is up for queen so everyone vote for her!!!  Jess, Larry, Rachel and I will be holding it down on the field as we try to live up to our title as "best ball crew in the OAC" which won't be hard since we were told that the John Carroll ball crew texted the entire game.  Get it together, Blue Streaks.  Other than that, not much is going on in the hive.  We are just getting ready for our first practice this Sunday (at midnight, yikes) and are looking forward to the craziness that will follow.  I gotta go meet Coach Campbell at the Colony Room now, one of the best kept secrets at BW.

GET EXCITEEDDDDDD!!!!!!!

They call me Pup

Well hello there, everyone! I am now blogging as an official Baldwin-Wallace student-athlete which is very exciting! I've loved my time here so far and am very excited to see what the future holds! I've been blessed with two awesome roommates and an awesome basketball team which has been so nice to have! My roommates so kindly gave me the nick-name of "Pup" during the first week of school because they say I'm kind of like a lost puppy.... which I really can't disagree with. The name seems to be catching on too....
BUT, as others have said before me, we are just about done with conditioning *insert angels singing 'Hallelujah' here* ha just kidding.... kind of. After the first day, which was supposed to be the easiest, I didn't think I would ever make it through conditioning. But much to my surprise, we finished 20 suicides last night and I think we can all say it was definitely somewhat easier than expected. The support of the entire team is certainly helpful and encouraging though!
I'm really looking forward to the rest of my time here, both with basketball and the rest of school in general. To any possible future freshman reading this... YOU SHOULD COME HERE!!!! We have fun :] I love all of these girls already and can't wait to see what fun this year brings! But that is all for now!

Peace outttttt!

Ally (Pup) :]

1 MORE TO GO!

Hey everyone, as most of you know/have heard we have had the pleasure of participating in boot camp, otherwise known as conidtioning, for the past two and a half weeks so far.  We started off having 10 boot camp sessions and now are down to our final one coming up on Wednesday-The Guantlet, sounds fun right? Although it has been very tough (especially day 1, aka: death), I would definitely say it has been the best thing this team has gone through in the last couple years.  The struggle we have endured over the last 9 boot camp sessions has definitely made us stronger, not only physcially, but as a team. We have became such a close group that I can honestly say already I love each and every single one of my teammates. Enough of the sappy talk though...  More importantly, last night- EVERY SINGLE PLAYER finished our conditioning session last night running 20 suicides & I am so proud of everyone! What an accomplishment for this team already. With boot camp coming to an end, I cannot wait for season to start and to see our team in action on the court.  I speak for everyone on this team when I say that there is no doubt in our minds we are going to kick butt this year!

YJ4L..literally

Hey everyone! It's Erin.  So far I've been here at BW for about five weeks.  These five weeks have been pretty stressful but have also flown by.  As most of you have know, I have been have quite a rough time adjusting because I'm so shy and homesick, however thanks to a lot of you my transition here becomes a little easier everyday.  Thank you very much everyone, I really appreciate it.  You have all been very nice and welcoming to me and every bit helps.  With that said, I am really excited for the season to start because I think it is going to be a lot of fun (...and that means we have successfully completed boot camp...)  As far as my life goes at BW, it has been really busy with basketball and studying like most of you I'm sure.  I have enjoyed most of my classes, simply because I am a nerd and love to learn, but also because most of my professors are pretty cool.  The old man that always shows up in the rec with the sweatband and high shorts...yea, that's my calc teacher, he's pretty funny.  One of my favorite things so far at BW, was probably our first trip to Camp Cheerful for bonding, I feel like that helped a lot getting to know a little about everyone and I cannot wait to get to know all of you more.  I am really looking forward to basketball season because I know we all will have a lot of fun and challenge a lot of teams.  Again, thank you everyone for all your help making me feel at home, it has really meant a lot.

I think this quote somewhat defines what I need to do in order to succeed here at BW and not be so homesick.

Love,
Erin Allen

Heyy Everyone!! I hope you all had a great summer and a successful move in! I'm Shari Mangas and I will be a Sophomore this year. I recently just changed my major from Athletic Training/Exercise Science to Sports management and business. I'm from a wee little town called Leipsic which is in NW Ohio. My summer consisted of mainly working and working out. I did venture to Columbus quite a few times to visit with some of my friends so that was a nice break from the work life. It was such a great time reuniting with everyone yesterday as they all moved back in to this wonderful town.
I hope you all had a great opening weekend and I'm looking forward to seeing all of the new yellow jackets at the cookout tonight!

Few More Days :)

Hey everyone! I'm Audrey and I will be a Sophomore this year at BW. I loved last year and I cannot wait to start this year. I am a Middle Childhood Education major with minors in Math and History. My ultimate goal is to teach Middle School Math...which people always tell me is crazy lol but I love that age group.
My summer has been awesome. I babysit/nanny for a family in my neighborhood and I absolutely love it. Shout out to Megan and Taylor!! (the girls I babysit) :) I didn't really go on a "vacation" but I did go to Cedar Point and my grandparents condo in Marblehead which is always a blast. I also got to help my sister move into college at the University of Kentucky which was absolutely beautiful. Everyone there is super friendly and I love their accents :)
I am so excited to get to know all the incoming players. Get ready for some good times :) As for the season, I always look forward to that. Spending time with my teammates is one of my favorite things about college. I miss you all!!
I hope everyone has had a great summer and I can't wait to see you guys :)

Hey guys! My name is Alissa Munro and I'll be a freshman this year. I went to lexington high school, which is near mansfield, OH. I'm undecided in my major, but I'm leaning towards physical therapy. My mom is Brenda, and I have an older brother Tyler, who is 23 and goes to Crapital :), and a younger brother, Chase, who is 14...and a 6'6'' giant. You will know exactly who he is at our games.

As for summer...its been pretty uneventful compared to spring break. I went to Cancun with my mom and one of my friends. It was literally the best week of my life. I want to go back again, so I'm thinking team bonding? :)

I've met a lot of the girls, but I can't wait to meet everyone else! I'm definitely looking forward to this year. I think I'll one up Amber and say National Champs 2012-2013 :)

Summer Winding down

Hey everyone!! Most people have met me! I am amber and I will be a transfer senior this year here at BW! I am very excited for the upcoming school year. It's my last year and I am hoping to have an amazing year with you girls! This is my third school transfer and if anyone knows anything about the situation it hasn't been a very good three years. So with this being my last and final spot I am confident that God put me in the right place! I hope that I can be a big part of the team and a great teammate to all. so anyways...
My summer....well I work A LOTTTT....I work full time at finish line...I am a manager there and I absolutely love my job...I get to work with people and shoes allll day long....(my secret, which won't be a secret too long, is that I have a sneaker obsession....) My collection is up to about 70 pairs and always buying new sneakers!!! and on top of working I have been interning with the U.S. Marshals this summer. It has been a great experience so far although it hasn't been as fun as I expected. Other then that I haven't done too much. I celebrated my 21st birthday a couple weeks ago and that was a great time with all my family and friends!! I have done a few little htings here and there but nothing too eventful. I am kind of lame lol....I am going to cedar point tomorrow which is my first and only "vacation" this summer...
Well guys, I am up early, I have another long day at work and then off to the gym!! I look forward to seeing everyone soon! keep working hard!

Lexi Rohrbach ~ Junior!!

Hi there! I'm Lexi Rohrbach and I am going to be a junior! (and yes I do feel old) Only a month until we move back into school and I am excited! I am majoring in Communication Disorders and minoring in Biology. I plan on being a speech therapist.  This summer I have just been working and working out...with a few fun things thrown in there (pictures to follow!) I work at a daycare (just like last summer) and it has made me enjoy the goofy things kids do even more! I live with my mom, brother, and my awesome dog Frankie...but I have a second set of parents (aka my aunt and uncle) that come to all our games as well.  I am really close to all of them! I am a really open person (even though I seem quiet at first) so if you want to know anything about me you can just ask! And that is about it! See you all soon!

Awwww Jackets!

Lexi Rohrbach #45

I mentioned that I have done some fun things this summer, and here they are!

The first picture is me right after I finished the color run! The color run is a 5k where they throw chalk on you every "K". The second picture is the finish line when everyone throws a packet of chalk in the air.  It was a blast and I plan on doing it next year! I am also doing the mudathalon August 11th!

The third picture is me and my family at Niagara Falls.  That was our "mini-vacation" for the summer.

The fourth picture is me at the Cincinnati Zoo.  I held some birds! It was really scary because one of the birds wouldn't get off my head!

almost August :)

Hey everyone!! My name is Natalia (Tali) Simovic and I will be a junior this year! Cannot believe I am so old :( I thought high school flew by, but college is definitely flying by faster so word of advice to the freshmen, enjoy every second and cherish the time you have because these are once in a lifetime memories you"ll be making! I obviously give good advice like this because I am majoring in Psychology :) also Business as well.  I plan to earn my PhD in Psych and continue on own my own practice (the Business part) as a counseling therapist most likely specializing in Child and Family Therapy.  School part aside I am SO EXCITED to be back at school :)) I may only live half an hour away, but it is my home away from home and I can't wait to be back. This year my roommate and I Victoria, aka Lippy, last years basketball team manager, will be living in Hamilton apartments and we are also SO EXCITEDDD we are going to have a kitchen :))) yes these are the things we look forward to haha I love to cook and bake food and more importantly we both love to eat so its going to be a good time! I cannot wait to meet all the new faces and get to know everybody :) Our team really is a family and I look forward to all the time we are going to spend together and the new memories we will be making.  Well until then I will be staying busy working my glamorous job at CVS, working out, and finishing up my lovely summer classes. Can't wait to see everyone!!! :)

Hey Team!!

This is me in Romania :)
this is my senior picture

I am Stephanie Kumler and I will be a freshman at BW this year.  Most people just call me Steph. When you all first meet me I might seem a little shy but don’t let me fool you! I love to sing and dance even though I suck at both! Just not on the court, on the court its business! I am from Jupiter, Florida. And yes, I am a HUGE heat fan, don’t hate. Now I know what your thinking, “how the heck did you find BW from Florida?” Haha well its kind of along story but the short version is I wanted to play basketball so badly and Florida has zero nice D-3 schools so I started to search. My grandparents live in Ohio and I fell in love with BW. I could not be happier with my decision thus far (you guys might have to help me through the winters though). I went to a pretty small school, I graduated with 66 kids and we were the biggest class to ever graduate from there. I am SO excited to start practicing with you all! Sorry I haven’t been able to make it to the open gyms but as you know Florida is not a quick drive away and also I have been traveling a lot this summer. In fact at this very moment I am in Targu Mures, Romania! A team of kids from my high school and I put on a summer camp for special needs and abused orphans. That leads me to my major, Early and Special Education! I absolutely love kids! Other than a little bit of travel this summer I have just been trying to stay active, working out, and eating right so I can be the best yellow jacket I can be for you guys. I have one older Brother, Josh and my parents are Jay and Tammy.  I don’t know that there is much more to tell but I CANNOT WAIT to start season and get to know you all!!

SUMMER!!

Hey everyone!!! I'm Erin Allen and I'm going to be a freshman this year! I plan to major in Athletic Training. I live in the small town of Girard, outside of Erie.  My school's mascot is also the Yellowjackets so I am literally going to be a YellowJacket for life!! My parents are David and Kim Allen and you'll probably see them at a couple of the games.  I also have two brothers, Chris and Cody, and a sister Shannon.
As far as summer goes, I have been very busy with work, mini family vacations and working out for basketball.  Yesterday, my family went to the Niagara Falls (the American side) and it was probably one of the coolest things I've ever done.  Tomorrow I have orientation and I am a little nervous/ excited.
This is one of my senior picture just so everyone gets an idea of who I am.

This picture is at the Niagara Falls. (my cousin Ayla, me, my cousin Camryn, and my sister Shannon)

I hope everyone is enjoying their summer and I can't wait to meet everybody! :)

Tuesday, July 10, 2012

Hey guys, I'm Allyson Helleis! I'm and incoming freshman and majoring in Pre-Physical Therapy and Athletic Training. My parents are John and Patti, and I have two younger sisters Kayla and Leah. I also have two jobs, I work at Bearden's which is a family owned restaurant and Lakewood Country Club's golf shop.

My summer has been consumed with work, country concerts and working out of course! Can't forget those grad parties every weekend either haha. I have an addiction with shoes and music. I am a huge country fan but I'll listen to anything really! I just really love music in general, hence why I am saving up my tip money for a pair of beats by Dre! My tennis shoe and basketball shoes are adding up to an insane amount, but the amount of other shoes I have also is not the headiest either :) (even though I love my basketball shoes).

I am really excited for orientation and a fresh start with new people and a new team! I think my family is ready for some time away from me as am ready for some time away from them! I'm pumped to have some more independence and rely on myself and my roommate! Well that about sums it up, I couldn't figure out how to post pictures... so yeah that's about it! Thanks!

First Blog YAHOOOO! :D

Well. I accidently just deleted my blog which I was about to post so I'm going to start again! Hello! I'm eiter a day late or a few weeks early since there is both an Ally and an Allyson... which I am both. So! Hi, my name is Ally Dehart. I'm from a small town called Beaver, Pennsylvania which is about 40 minutes north of Pittsburgh. So, as you may have guessed, I am a die hard Steelers fan. GO STEELERSSS!!!!! Hmmm.... some other stuff about me. My parents are Bryan and Jill Dehart and I also have an older sister Amanda. And I'm sure you all will find out when you meet me... I absolutely LOVE my cat. Her name is Lucille Carmella Bell Dehart, or Lucy for short. I'm kind of a cat lady in the making. =^.^= <--cat. Kind of. But anyways! Hmmmm. I'm very ecxcited to start college in the fall! I have my orientation the last weekend in June so I'll get to be up there and finally get a roommate and FINALLY get some Baldwin-Wallace garb to rep! I'm not sure what I'm going to major in yet but I think I'm deciding between either speech pathology or physical therapy. I tore my ACL my junior basketball season so I guess you could say I have some experience with physical therapy.... BOOOOO :( but all better :]Gosh what else. Well. I feel like I'm rambling so I'm gonna have to wrap this bad boy up. I'm really looking forward to seeing everybody again and to meeting those who I haven't met yet! Hope you all have a wonderful rest of your summer. P.S. I'm not very good at using this here thing. I'm going to attempt to post pictures on here. This is how I accidently delted my first blog thing though so I hope it all works out. One picture is of me, my mom, my sister, and my darling cat Lucille. I want everybody to see how precious she is :] The next is just going to be one of my senior pictures so you know who I am. haha. okay. So here it goes! Thank you for your time! I hope it works........................... ohmygosh it's not working....
okay there are a bunch of randon letters and numbers and symbols and stuff all smooshed together... hpefully that turns into pictures when this thing is done...

Megan's last summer blog everrrrrrrrrr :'(

HHIIII!!! This is my favorite time of the year! No, not because it's summer and nice out and we don't have school, but because everyone is blogging!!! I'm a little late on my blog because my computer hasn't been working in my apartment so I had to wait and jack my roommates computer while she isn't here. Thanks Jo! Anyways, my name is Megan Frisina and I will be a senior this year. I remember when I did my first blog as a freshman and I was so nervous that everyone was going to think I was a big weirdo, only to realize later that they would figure that out anyways within a week. It's three years later though and everything seems to have turned out OK. Last year I did a video blog but considering it's 7:30 on a Sunday and I haven't gotten off my couch all day I figured I would spare everyone. Soo let's see.. I am originally from Corry, PA which is a really small town, but I'm living in Berea for the summer, which is also a really small town, but bigger than Corry. Also my apartment has a pool so everyone is welcome to come swim whenever! I'm only allowed to have two guests at a time though so team swimming parties would probably consist of three people swimming and everyone else sitting outside the fence watching, which sounds like lots of fun I know. I have an internship this summer working at Camp Cheerful running adapted sports camps for kids with special needs. I am a Sport Management and Business Administration double major, and I just got back from a two week trip to Ireland and England studying abroad with a Global Sports Industry program. It was the most amazing/exhausting experiences of my life!! I learned a lot more than I expected to and had a blast. I was a little disappointed that I didn't pick up a sweet accent in the two weeks that I was there, but you can't get everything I guess. I definitely recommend doing a two week study abroad trip to everyone if you get the chance. Returners, I can't wait to see you all again and freshmen, get ready to have a ton of fun over the next four years. The time will fly, but there will never be a dull moment. See you guys soon!!!!!!! Yaaaay Summerrrrr!

Hello to all my favorite yellow jackets and all the new baby yellow jackets coming in! :) My name is Jessica Lairson. But if you hear everyone call me Larry, that is also me. I am going to be a junior this year. I can't believe i am already half-way through college as an undergrad! It feels like just yesterday I moved onto campus and met all the new people that have become some of my greatest friends ever :) I'm a neuroscience-chemistry major, so I am surprisingly a huge nerd. I am from Louisville, Ohio. And yes its actually pronounced "Lewisville", not like the one in Kentucky. Its a small town between Alliance and Canton, about an hour and 15 away. That's where my momma and my younger sister and two younger brothers live. I also half an older brother, a step-brother, and a half-brother who all live in Mentor, OH. This summer I am actually working in the admissions office up here at school and taking classes at tri-c and I absolutely love being on campus all summer and getting to see the basketball girls more often. I can't wait to get to meet all of you. We have some serious potential from losing only 1 senior last year. I hope you all are enjoying your summers and see ya at open gym! :D (Me and Jess Carpenter)>> -Larry #3

SUMMER ALREADY?!

Heeeeey everyone! I can't believe it is already summer. I feel like just yesterday I was at orientation! I am SERIOUSLY missing the girls from the team already! I have just been chilling with my friends, I just got a job at my mother's company as a temp, and along with basketball workouts I have started p90x! If you don't know or haven't tried p90x I RECOMMEND IT! It has been kicking my butt! I'm currently listening to CALLMEMAYBE- aka my jam. I don't know why I like it but im sure none of you are judging me.
For those of you who don't know me, I'm Megan Pillsbury but you may forget my first name quickly. I am going to be a sophomore and I am currently majoring in Digital Media and Design. I have been thinking about switching to a Public Relations major so we will see what this year holds! I think public relations would be good because as my teammates already know, I am not shy. :) Soooooo.. I went to the zoo today with my mother, janice. It was lovely! The picture is me in the rain forest! wooo! Alright well dinner is calling my name, a healthy one ofcourse ;) I can't wait to see everyone again at the next open gym and I'm beyond stoked to meet all the freshmen! If any of the new ladies need me for anything or have any questions at all, don't be shy. You can look me up on FB or shoot me a text! 9373440996 BYEEEEEE #awwwwjackets

SUMMER!!

Hello Everyone! I cannot believe another year has passed, and graduation was today. The graduation ceremony was amazing and very touching. Seeing friends receive their diplomas and move to the next step in their life is very bittersweet. In addition our outstanding President, Dick Durst is retiring therefore giving his last commencement today. You are wished all the best in West Virginia and better come back and visit every once in a while! I know everyone will miss you and Karen dearly but remember.... you will always be a Yellow Jacket For Life!! (YJ4L).
Next I will start the introductions! If you don’t already know my name is Nancy Coulter and I will be a fifth year senior because of my double major of Health and Physical Education. I am able to play basketball my fifth year because I tore my second ACL, (left knee) my junior year and was able to red shirt the year. My first ACL tear was freshman year of high school (right knee). I am from Washington Court House, Ohio and this summer I will be working again at Domtar. Domtar is a "paper factory" we make printer paper and envelopes for staples, office depot, and so on. It is also 12 hour shifts, but the people help you get through the long hours. So for any of the new incoming freshman if you do not see me at open gyms or the camps that is why, I work a lot and BW is 3 hours away! However, I wish I was with you all instead :) Anyways, I have one younger sister Morgan who is 15 yrs and an awesome mother Patty. I love spending time with my family and friends, being active outside, and working hard to stay in shape! I am really, really excited to meet all the newcomers soon! I wish everyone the best for the summer and that everyone works hard to make our team even stronger for next season.
My sister Morgan and I.

Banquet 2012

Tonight was our banquet, and aside from the video, the juniors talking about the senior(s) and the senior speech are the highlights.

Brother team

So basketball has slowed way down, but that doesn't mean we aren't still doing things as a team.  Our athletic department brother team is baseball, so we braved the weather and supported the guys.  Unfortunately our signs ended up blowing away in the wind, but it is always fun when our team is together. On another note, our banquet is coming up this Sunday and everyone is anxious for the unveiling of this year's highlight video. It always seems to bring a lot of laughter (it's mostly off the court highlights!) :)

Monday, March 26, 2012

I can NOT believe it is almost April and my first year at BW is about to come to an end! My freshman year has flown by! I can honestly say I have loved every second of being here, but of course I am ready for summer :) The is back to good old Ohio weather and very chilly. I have been sick for the past week because of it, so I have not had a sense of smell and am missing out on the great smell of these Berea trees apparently. Open gyms have been gong great so far, it's nice to be back together with the team. St. Patrick's Day was a blast, a group of the team went down to the parade together and some go the girls that are not from around here got to see how crazy it really was with so many people in downtown. School is going good, I have been taking a lot more naps since bball ended :p ooops! I've also been loving march madness. I think Kentucky is going to win it all. Currently Justin Bieber's new single came out last night at midnight, and I have been listening to it non- stop, even while typing this entire bling #BIEBERFEVER hehe :) Hope everyone has a wonderful week!
-Jenny Prochko #23

Thursday, March 22, 2012

Hey everyone! I hope you are all enjoying the weather as much as I along with almost everyone else on campus is! Even though the weather has been exceptionally nice for March, I have spent most of it inside my room working on homework and papers. But most importantly, being glued to the TV watching March Madness. It doesn't get better than this! Go Bucks! :) Aaron Craft is my main man!! Fun Fact for the day: Craft was actually in my conference in high school and dominated our entire basketball and football team every single year.. He was/is a stud! <3
Anyways, open gyms have started back up and it felt good to be back on the floor playing with my second family! We all have big dreams and goals for next year so we are trying to work our butts off in the off-season so our season doesn't end like it did this year. NCAA watch out for BW next year...
This past weekend was St. Patty's Day and being from the completely other side of the state I didn't realize how big of a deal this "holiday" was to Cleveland. Almost the whole basketball team went downtown for the parade and let me tell you, I have NEVER, in my entire life, seen so many people in one area before! The rumor was that there were around half a million people there?! It was cray to say the least! But, of the 499,985 people there that I didn't know, I ran into one of our recruits! So, shout out to Celine Mangan, it was great running into you!
I also made the trip down to C-Bus to watch another team in my conference play at state. Arlington was playing against the team of one of our recruits and if she chooses BW (which she better) we have a very bright future! It was great to see potential yellow jackets have such a great season and make it to the Schott! Not everyone can say they played on the same floor as some of the great buckeyes!
Anyways, I have to wrap this up because Aaron is on TV and I can't miss him ballin' out :) Hope everyone has a safe and wonderful weekend!!!
1st picture is Aud Sharlee and I after dinner with President Durst. Love that guy! He will be missed next year!
2nd picture is of Pills Jenny and I before we headed downtown for the parade

SPRING TIME

I hope everyone loves this weather as much as I do! It's so nice to see everyone out and about with such beautiful weather. Such a nice change from the cold and snow. Anyway, open gyms started last week and I am so excited to get back into it. I've missed everyone! It seems like since the season ended we don't see each other as much :( But that's all different now :) I can't believe this year is almost over. It seems like yesterday I was just moving in.....crazy! It's been a great year and I am looking forward to 3 more amazing years!

This year is flying by!!

First off I would like to apologize for my blog being a week late, even though I am pretty sure every time I have blogged it has been at least a week late. I am getting better at it though :). Second I would like to point out we only have 8 weeks left of class and then this year is over. I personally think this has been the fastest school year ever which I can't say I am too happy about. Anywayyys I am glad I was late on blogging because now I get can talk about how nice it has been this week especially today. Its going to be like 70 degrees out which means maybe I can finally get some sun. I mean even Coach told me I looked pretty pale.. And I also can mention that we started open gyms this week :D Open gym is always really fun but it is also the moment when I realize that I am in terrible shape. I think I can speak for about the whole team when I say after about two trips up and down the floor I'm darn near exhausted. I hope everyone is enjoying the beautiful weather and has a wonderfullll day!

Weee're Baaaaack

Back at school! Spring Break was pretty nice and all, but it definitely got a little boring at times, so its a bittersweet comeback to school. Especially because it is soooo nice outside!  When I'm in class I just want to play outside! It is supposed to stay like this all week though, yay! :D  I was secretly jealous of everyone who got to go to Florida or Myrtle! We had our first open gym of the new year today! It felt good even though I think I may have forgotten how to dribble a basketball... Luckily, there is time to fix that. This week has definitely been crunch time academically for me. Two midterms and a research paper all due. Its starting to get rough. Thank God for sunshine :) I'm excited to get rolling with basketball again. I didn't realize how much I missed it until I was sitting at home with no one to go shoot around with. It's nice to be back!

SPRING BREAK:)

Hello there!

It's spring break and I am just a little excited! I am heading down to Florida with a couple of my friends for a nice relaxing week on the beach!  This is a much needed break because midterms were quite stressful.  The only bad part about that is that we still should be playing right now if everything would have gone as planned.  Oh well, next year will be our year!

Well, that's all I have for now! Sorry it is so short!

:)

Woww! So crazy to think that my four years here at B-W have come to an end. Our last home game against ONU, was one of the best comebacks I have ever witnessed !! We were down 17 points with less than 9 minutes to play and ended up getting the victory. It truly made my senior night extra special !! The girls were so sweet and made me signs and hung them up around the gym. I couldn't help but laugh every time the picture of my face blown up was in the corner of STO. Although we lost in the tournament, I could not have been more proud of our team. We continued to fight and battle till the final buzzer. Playing at B-W has been such a privilege and such a great experience. I am so lucky to have made lifetime friendships and create a ton of memories that I will never forget !!

Random stuff

Well the season is over but that doesn't mean that this team didn't create some fun memories along the way. I ran across a couple of things from our Florida trip. The photo is from our practice at the RDV sportsplex where the Orlando Magic practiced.  The video is from Laurel's uncle's piano bar. We went there after attending the Magic game and the guys at the pianos played one of the requests. You can tell our team got excited about it!

WE LOVE OUR SENIOR!!

Wow! It’s hard to believe tomorrow is our last home and regular season game! We will play Ohio Northern tomorrow at 2pm and we are all more than excited! Excited not only to get the W, and that we are going to be televised, but also because it is SENIOR DAY!! On this special day we get to celebrate having by far the best senior athlete! Catherine has done a phenomenal job in all that she has accomplished during her years at BW. Cat has fantastic leadership skills and is role model of which I hope to be like some day! She goes about all that she does in a positive manner and always knows how to put a smile on everybody’s face! I couldn’t be more fortunate to have been given the opportunity to have her not only as my teammate but also as my friend :) It is unbelievable how fast this year has gone, though it has gone super fast is has been especially fun! Many memories have been created and I couldn’t imagine better teammates than what I have (better does not exist)!! My teammates are my second family and Catherine has brought us altogether. From day one, she included all the freshman in all that the upper classmen did. Her everlasting charm, determination, knowledge and skills will be remembered and greatly missed. I wish her best of luck in the future and hope to stay in touch! :)

WE LOVE YOU CAT! <3

Butler visit

So today the Butler men's basketball team practiced at BW. Brad Stevens - great coach and even better person. He took the time to talk to some of us after practice. Love it!
