One More Week!

Hello everyone!

I cannot believe that we are already a month into our basketball season, it seems like conditioning was just yesterday.  But we are all glad that is over with, that's for sure.  This season is flying by and I am lucky to have the teammates that I do.  We also seem to have a blast when we get together and I cannot wait until Christmas break when we can hang out and play basketball.

As everyone can see from the pictures coach posted the other day, our team attended the Adapted Ed Dance.  I don't think I have ever had as much fun in my life at a dance.  Seeing all of the people dancing, making gingerbread men, human mummies, and picture frames for their pictures was an amazing feeling.  Shari even got to hold her new friend Brandon's hand as he left the dance to complete his perfect night! :)

As the semester finally comes to an end, finals week arrives.  Let's say I am not enjoying finals week and it hasn't fully arrived, as I know must of you feel the same way.  However, once this week is over you can bet we will spend the entire month off making memories together.  This season may not have started off how we hoped but I believe we will succeed in the end because we manage to find fun in everything we do together and that will pay off in the end!

Winners at Life

So tonight our team spent time at the Candy Land Dance.  It's an event the Adapted PE class led by Marianne Mangan puts on for special needs kids and adults. There are activities and a dance. Our kids aren't in the class but took it upon themselves to do this. We  may not win every game, but these kids are definitely winners in life!!!  Can't say enough about them. I may get frustrated when we don't do the things we work on all the time, but I couldn't be more proud of who they are as people.

THE BALDWIN WALLACE

Hey everyone! As many of you know we won our first tournament in Franklin, Indiana a few weeks ago, and I think everyone could say we are all very excited for our first conference game coming up against Ohio Northern University on December 5th! The seniors have been so great this year and we are all ready to work our butts off and get them a conference title and ring! :)

Although we love our seniors, some of the freshmen (Janaya, Shekiera, and Alissa) including myself, started a prank war with them! We toilet papered their house, duct taped their doors shut, wrote on their windows, and wrote and toilet papered all over Rachel's car! Then we went out to dinner one night and decided to prank them again, and knocked on their windows and doors to scare them and boy did it work... We could hear Jess screaming! The seniors have yet to retaliate, so all of us are a little bit on edge. Needless to say the freshmen squad is winning this prank war against the seniors 2-0 baby!

The semester is ending which means finals, papers, and project are all piling up, but this also means Christmas break!!! The next two weeks are going to be stressful, but I am counting down the days until we get to have a month away from school and just get to hang out with the team and play basketball! :)

Champions of the WORLD

Howdy followers!

As most of you already know, we traveled to Franklin College in Indiana this past weekend for their Tip-Off Classic. Our first opponent was Ohio Wesleyan and obviously, we won. The following day we then played Franklin for the championship and man was that an ugly win! A win is a win though! In between games Coach Campbell took a bus load of us shopping at the outlet malls just a few miles away and I think everybody left with atleast one or two bags! I think Amber took the award for most things bought and she was basically in one store the entire time! I havenever seen someone soooo excited to be in a Nike Outlet store before. Our student coach, Jon, and coach Bailey even went and had a little man date on their own. Even though we didn't get stuck on the minibus this year, it was probably as bad if not worse than last year. The 6 hour bus rides truly make you go a little bit insane. The things that go on on the bus probably aren't what a normal team does, but hey, that's what makes this team so enjoyable and fun to be around! Whether it be the Ipod game, peanut butter challenge, Rachel crawling through the storage things on top of the bus or wathcing Magic Mike, this team always manages to find fun in everything we do!

Tonight we travel to Case for our third game of the year searching for that perfect 3 and 0 record! Hope everyone can make it out! Enjoy your Thanksgiving and your time with your loved ones!! Gobble Gobble

The Season is Almost Here!

Hey everyone! The season is starting in less than a week and we begin by traveling to Indiana for our first tournament! I can't believe how fast this year is going we're almost done with one semester already and it feels like I just came here yesterday. We have worked so hard to get where we're at right now and it has payed off in our last two scrimmages because we played well together and won against Tiffin and Notre Dame. I'm so excited for the regular season to start and can't wait for us to do amazing this year because I know we will perform well and we can only get better as the season continues. The talent and chemistry on this team is awesome I couldn't have asked for a better team or a better group of friends. :) I'm looking forward to a great season and we're going to perform our best for the seniors this year because this season is for them.

The Hive is Buzzinggggg

Hi there! It's getting to be that time of the year again! The preseason is done, our scrimmages are done, and we are working hard in practice to get ready for our first tournament in Indiana! (T-11 days) This week has been interesting with Hurricane Sandy hitting campus hard.  We didn't have class for 4 days, and we practiced in the dark! I am just glad that everyone here got by rather unscathed. I am really excited for games to start so we can show everyone just how hard we have been working! Andddd that's all I have for now! Time to go to bed so I get some sleep before my test tomorrow (medical terminology...woo!)

Oh, and here's a lovely picture of some of the team cleaning up the stadium after a football game. Aren't our ponchos awesome??

2 and 0 Baby!

 Hello JacketNation,
I know I was totally supposed to blog a solid two weeks ago, but I was just waiting until there was lots to talk about, ya know? So practices have started out pretty amazing, and we are now about 11 practices in. 2 of which were in the dark, compliments of Hurricane Sandy.  I propose routine practices in the dark, because we did sweeeeeet at our scrimmages! A wise man once said, "If you can catch a ball in the dark, you are going to be Michael Jordan in the light". Or something like that.  So yes, last Thursday we traveled out to Tiffin for Game 1.  I know, its only technically a scrimmage but we are valuing every minute of playing time this year as though it is a national championship. The dragons have handed it to us for the past two years I've been here, but Thursday they had no clue what hit them.   Everyone coming together even though we have been taken out of post-season play, it was a great feeling.  It really just enforced the fact that we are going to have a remarkable year, no matter what anyone on the outside tries to do! The momentum carried over to Sunday night's scrimmage (Game 2) vs Notre Dame College.  It was a close game for a while, but eventually NDC couldn't keep up. Meltdown baby, meltdown.
Our competitive spirit and love of the game and each other has already carried us over the breaking point. We had a decision: fall apart or play every game as hard as possible. I think its pretty clear which one we chose.

The power is back!

We were lucky enough last week to not have classes Tuesday through Friday due to the massive storm! I hope everyone was able to stay safe, warm, and dry. Everyone finally has power on campus and we are back to going to classes. I absolutely love walking to classes in the fall (minus the cold). The trees and leaves are beautiful and the apple cider is icing on the cake. Anyway, I hope everyone is enjoying BW so far :) The team chemistry we have this year is amazing and I am so proud of how far we have come in just a few weeks.
Our first game is next week.....time flies!! I'm so excited for the freshman because when I was a freshman (just last year) traveling was one of my favorite things about this team. We travel a number of times this year and I am looking forward to the trips :) Shout-out to the seniors Rachel, Jess, Megan, Nancy, and Amber! I cannot wait to be the best that we can be this year for you guys.
Stay classy!

One More....Fooooorrrreeevvvveeerrrr!!

Hello everyone! So tomorrow we have our final day of boot camp! It’s known as the gauntlet but meg, jess, larry and I just like to call it 1, 2, 3, 12! On Sunday we all had the privilege to run 20 suicides and everyone danced their way through it. (Literally) Besides our awesome conditioning my classes have been really busy. I’m taking all major courses so I can’t slack on any of them. I’m trying to fit in important X-Box time with Janaya but haven’t been able to yet. Clearly she is getting mad at me because she denominated me for love last week. Ouch. Other than that I love my team! We are a whole different group with a lot of new faces but they all fit right in. Practice starts Sunday at midnight and our first game is in just over a month. I cannnn’t wait!!! Alright well time for bed so I can be in the gym by six!!

HEYYOOO seasons almost here

I would like to start this blog by apologizing, because pup and I were going to do a rap about our team but then ran out of time, so instead we had to write separate blogs.  The rap will come at some point, but not during midterms.  To all of our fans, we are very sorry.

So I just finished my second midterm of the year, and I am a much happier camper! Speaking of camp, we are almost done with BOOT CAMP!!! Which makes me a very happy camper.  Everyone has been doing an unbelievable job so far this season, and it is very exciting to see the level of commitment to the program from returners and newcomers alike.  We only have one more day of running, which will be nothing compared to the 20 suicides that we did on Sunday night.  No, that was not a typo, we did 20 you guys!! Pretty awesome, but I am super glad that it's over.

In other jacket news, Homecoming is this weekend.  I'm gonna plug my roommate here, JoBeth Roll (YJ4L), because she is up for queen so everyone vote for her!!!  Jess, Larry, Rachel and I will be holding it down on the field as we try to live up to our title as "best ball crew in the OAC" which won't be hard since we were told that the John Carroll ball crew texted the entire game.  Get it together, Blue Streaks.  Other than that, not much is going on in the hive.  We are just getting ready for our first practice this Sunday (at midnight, yikes) and are looking forward to the craziness that will follow.  I gotta go meet Coach Campbell at the Colony Room now, one of the best kept secrets at BW.

GET EXCITEEDDDDDD!!!!!!!

They call me Pup

Well hello there, everyone! I am now blogging as an official Baldwin-Wallace student-athlete which is very exciting! I've loved my time here so far and am very excited to see what the future holds! I've been blessed with two awesome roommates and an awesome basketball team which has been so nice to have! My roommates so kindly gave me the nick-name of "Pup" during the first week of school because they say I'm kind of like a lost puppy.... which I really can't disagree with. The name seems to be catching on too....
BUT, as others have said before me, we are just about done with conditioning *insert angels singing 'Hallelujah' here* ha just kidding.... kind of. After the first day, which was supposed to be the easiest, I didn't think I would ever make it through conditioning. But much to my surprise, we finished 20 suicides last night and I think we can all say it was definitely somewhat easier than expected. The support of the entire team is certainly helpful and encouraging though!
I'm really looking forward to the rest of my time here, both with basketball and the rest of school in general. To any possible future freshman reading this... YOU SHOULD COME HERE!!!! We have fun :] I love all of these girls already and can't wait to see what fun this year brings! But that is all for now!

Peace outttttt!

Ally (Pup) :]

1 MORE TO GO!

Hey everyone, as most of you know/have heard we have had the pleasure of participating in boot camp, otherwise known as conidtioning, for the past two and a half weeks so far.  We started off having 10 boot camp sessions and now are down to our final one coming up on Wednesday-The Guantlet, sounds fun right? Although it has been very tough (especially day 1, aka: death), I would definitely say it has been the best thing this team has gone through in the last couple years.  The struggle we have endured over the last 9 boot camp sessions has definitely made us stronger, not only physcially, but as a team. We have became such a close group that I can honestly say already I love each and every single one of my teammates. Enough of the sappy talk though...  More importantly, last night- EVERY SINGLE PLAYER finished our conditioning session last night running 20 suicides & I am so proud of everyone! What an accomplishment for this team already. With boot camp coming to an end, I cannot wait for season to start and to see our team in action on the court.  I speak for everyone on this team when I say that there is no doubt in our minds we are going to kick butt this year!
