Buzz Buzz!

Hey everyone :)

Well so far the semester has been going pretty well! I'm doing well in all of my classes, putting every test to shame, of course. I'm still salty about the price of my books, but anywho....

We have earned ourselves a 15-3 record, and we are 10-1 in the OAC! Just let that simmer for a little while....

.....

......

AWWWW YEAHHH JACKETS YEAAAAHHHH! :) I'm so proud of every single one of you! You all have stepped up when asked!

In our recent win over Mount, Jess Carpenter had a career high of 28 points as did Jess Lairson with 17! Don't forget Cat on the the boardsssss! That was such an intense, exciting game. You guys left nothing undone! Like everyone says....we can be 'scary good'.

Last night we snagged another victory over Heidelberg, we had some younger girls definitely step up! Talli "T-Spot" extraordinaire. 'Nuff said. Melissa, Monica, and JoBeth, also put in good minutes too!

I've been out since the beginning of season as you all know, but it's just crazy to watch where you guys started and where we are now. You guys really have come together, and I can't wait to be a part of that next year...that's what keeps me going.

I've been going hard with my physical therapy at the Clev Clinic. I really hope something good comes out of it. Having another surgery to remove scar tissue doesn't sit well with me..

One day at a time!

Keep working hard ladies. It's obviously paying off :)

STUNG- A Rising Epidemic

As most of you probably already know.....we have literally STUNG our last three opponents and hope to do so for the rest of the season. Last night we defeated a very good Mount team and it was definitely very exciting and a lot of fun!! We are really starting to all come together and just be able to have fun playing. It is an exciting time to be a yellow jacket!:)
Tomorrow we get ready to take on Heidelburg, game #3 in 8 days. Being one of the oldest on the team, I am hoping my aging body can make it through. Catherine, Ali, and I attempted to take on the cold plunge last night after the game. Needless to say it was a big failure. I'm pretty sure none of us made it past a minute:(...even with the very creative pad like things to cover our toes. It was the thought of going that counts I suppose! See you at the hive!=)

Startin' the semester off the right way!

We are on the second week of our spring semester now, which is my very last semester ever as I graduate in May. :) It has definitely flown by, I can't believe it is about to be over. We just got a huge win over Ohio Northern on Saturday which put us in 1st place in the conference! We all played together and pulled out the win by two points. Even better, coach is taking us all to Coldstone because we held them under 58 points, yummm. I went home for a night over MLK weekend so it was nice to get to see the family and just RELAX for a little while. Back at it this week though. We have 4 games in 8 days so it is time to focus and get some more wins. :)

Back to school...

Well today was the second day of classes for Spring semester. I guess I'm ready to start back up again. Break was beginning to get boring. We had to get up bright and early, no dark and early this morning for practice at 6 A.M. because some of us have night class. So that was fun! After class I enjoyed a lovely six hour nap. Probably my last nap for a while because class and basketball will start getting crazy.
Last Friday night the team went to Camp Cheerful, a camp in Strongsville for Special Needs children. We played games and made posters with the kids. It was such a good experience and cool thing for us to do as a team. The campers loved it and it was great to see them excited we were there. They came to our game Saturday at home and sported their sweet Go Jackets signs! Harry, one of the kids, was especially fond of Melissa. haha :)
As for basketball, we're finishing up the first round of the OAC with some tough games. We have Mount Union tomorrow night, then Ohio Northern Saturday. Our practices have been going well though and we're ready to go. Lessss gooooooooo Jackets :)

HAPPY NEW YEAR/SPRING SEMESTER HOLLAAAA

Man, I feel like I haven't blogged since last year!! Soo after a very relaxing Christmas break we are FINALLY back in classes (I was counting down the days). We just finished our second day of classes for the second semester, and everyone is getting settled into their routines of getting up early and trekking across campus in the snow. Break was really fun, as it always is, but we failed to complete our to-do list for the month we had off. One of the only things that was actually accomplished was Catherine Spisak, Jessica Carpenter, Monica Gustin, Amanda Schroeder, and I taking coach shopping for new clothes. The fashion consulting team MEGMON definitely stole the show with our edgy yet practical selections. Not to toot our own horn, but toot toot. I can only shop so much, which is a problem when I shop with Catherine, because she obviously does not have this problem. I got a little worn out towards the end, but coach came out of the trip with some fly outfits, so it was a success. She is definitely going to win the best dressed award at the OAC banquet at the end of the year (there isn't actually a banquet or an award, but if there was). Also, I recently purchased a Cris Angel Mindfreak magic trick, which was a hit in the locker room when i busted it out the other day. I'm still working out the kinks, but when I perfect it I will surely become a YouTube sensation. Sooo this will probably be my last blog. On a serious note, we are getting into the thick of conference play, which is what we have been working toward since our first morning conditioning. We have alot of talent and drive and I'm really excited to see what our team can do coming into these big games. AWWW JACKETS! This is Megan Frisina reporting live from the hive, ESPN.

The gauntlet has arrived!!

So Finally this time of year has come. We have the four toughest games coming up and we are ready for them. First we have john carrol tonight, capital second, mount union third and ohio northern to finish the first round of oac play. Its going to be an exciting 2 weeks!! We also start classes on monday the 10th.

Last night the team went to Marcy's for dinner. It was delicious and while we were waiting for the food everyone began to play games. A couple of us (monica, megan, jen, jess lairson and the dynamic duo schroeder and me) were playing poker with Coach K as the dealer. Besides monica's poor betting on the first hand schroeder and me won all the chips. (of course there was not real money involved so no NCAA rules violated) Also last night a couple of us tried for the mega millions 355 million dollar prize but sadly none of us were successful.

Lets start off the new year with some wins!

Merry Christmasss and Happy New Yearr!! =]

After our big win versus Otterbein we went on our awesome 4 day vacation adn got to spend some quality time at home, which was a lot of fun! Since we dont have a game until January 5th we have been working on a lot of fundamentals at practice and just getting A LOT done! We also made time to have the team Christmas party where we did a white elephant gift exchange and performed funny skits; it was hilarious. I mean for my white elephant gift I got a bar of smelly soap, what more could I ask for :p. For New Years we had a mini break so I brought Jessica Lairoson home with me to vist the wonderful town of New Washington, of course she loved it!! So it is pretty obvious that break has been AWESOME so far! Now today it is time to head back to Baldwin Wallace and start getting ready for the big game on Wednesday vs. John Carrol!

OH, WHAT THE NEW YEAR WILL BRING :)

Hello Everyone!
Christmas has now past and we are about to begin a New Year for 2011!! Just as important my birthday is coming up January 5th WHOO HOO!! Along with that in January I will be having my knee surgery on the 11th. For those of you who do not know, I unfortunately tore my ACL in the game against Wilmington, however I just made the cut off for red shirting this year!! Sooooooo... for the rest of this year I am and will be working extremely hard so I can return and continue to battle as a yellow jacket for two more full years!!
With all that aside, we just had our annual Christmas party! Which I have to say has been the best one yet since I have been to BW!! We had amazing food, Olive Garden of course:) along with our hilarious "white elephant" gift exchange! Afterwards, we always have team skits which are super entertaining. The freshman with the clever and hysterical "13 days of Christmas" and us upperclassmen with our own scene/cheer from the movie bring it on! All in all was a blast :) Lastly, our next game is on my b-day against John Carroll and I am looking forward to our next OAC victory!!
GOOOOO JACKETTSSS!!!

CHRISTMAS WONDERLAND

SOOOOO... just last week we had our second home game against otterbein... it was a bit of a struggle at the beginning but we came together with our fist held high (SYNERGY) and won in overtime so far we're doing well in the OAC. Just this past weekend also was christmas, we got a few days off. I decided to spend my break in atlanta with my brother and his family(to the right is a pic of me and my brother and two of his kids).. road a train downtown, built a gingerbread village with the kids, it was really fun sort of relaxing but still busy.. no sleeping in for me ha. Tonight some of the girls we went to see Black Swan which was AMAZINGGGG! really weird like it was definitely different not for some people like Amanda.. the movie was not happening for her lol but i love and can't wait to see it again! Other than that we have a whole week without a game but its nice cus we have a lot of preparing to do for our huge games coming up in the next week or so and i can't wait to kick some ---..

Finally, A Home Game!!

We just got back from Lexington, Kentucky and what good things we will learn from this weekend. I love getting to travel and get to know more and more about each teammate just by living with them for two nights! Plus nothing could feel better than clapping our way back into Berea, home of the yellow jackets!

Tonight we have a JV game against Lakeland and ready to show them once again what YellowJacket basketball is all about. We undefeeeated We undeeeefeated. =]

And last but not least we finally get to play a home game against Otterbein on Wednesday!! Sooo excited to not have to sit on a bus for 5 hours a trip.

I hope everyone has a lovely Christmas; nothing is better than being with Family, a christmas tree, and home cooked meals.

God Bless!
Keep on Stingin' Jackets!

Back to B-W!

As most of you may know we are just coming back from our wonderful weekend trip to Kentucky, where we stayed in the lovely Hyatt Hotel. For those of you who might not know this, it is connected to the Rupp Arena where the UK wildcats play which was pretty awesome considering they played Saturday night there, it was extremely crowded in our hotel and it was completely full of blue. We even got had a decorated Christmas tree right outside our window, which gave us some Christmas spirit.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

Hello lady Jackets! Today we had the honor of going to the glorioius Holiday Luncheon, which is in fact pronounced more like "lunch-in" than "lunch-ee-on" as Victoria Brown would say. :D Above is a picture of me singing my little heart out to some Christmas carols at my table- fuuuuuun stuff. I don't know what everyone else thought, but the food seemed pretty amazing considering I haven't had a home cooked meal in quite some time. Oh my gosh and the fruit pizza/ cheesecake was glorious as well. A part from practice and traveling to games break has been a good time to just relax and take it easy. It's nice not to have to worry about schoolwork especially after a stressful week of finals! Tomorrow we travel to Marietta to take on the lady pioneers! Getting pumped!

Go Jackets!
