Yellow Jacket Pride Forever!

Yesterday was a tough loss. We ended our season in the first round of the OAC tournament against John Carroll. It was not the ending we all wanted whatsoever. I first would like to thank our seniors. Ali and Amanda has tremendous careers and I was only so fortunate to not only be their teammate but also one of their great friends. That is one of the greatest things about college basketball, it's not how many wins you get or how many points you score but the friendships that will last a lifetime. I could never picture my life without college basketball. The loss that we had last night will only make the underclassmen work harder in the off season. This could be a blessing in disguise. I give credit to all 19 girls who were on our team. This season every single person worked their hardest and always gave 111% whether it was in a drill, game or running sprints. I am so fortunate to have worked with these 18 young ladies. This yellow jacket team will never be the same and our memories will never be replaced. I love every single of one my teammates and would never want to change anything about our team. I only wish the best to Amanda and Ali and I know that they will be successful in anything that comes their way. To everyone else we all had a tremendous season and everyone stepped up !! :)

Love always <3

As I'm sure most of you know, we suffered our toughest loss of the year last night to John Carroll. It was an abrupt end to a successful season and I don't think anyone was ready for the ride to be over. With that said, the loss last night in no way portrays the season that we had. 5 months ago we started preseason, and from the first morning workout through the last minutes of the game last night, we gave all that we had in order to help better our team. We were a team this year with a lot of heart and that showed not only in our 18 wins but each and every day since that first workout. Everyone worked extremely hard toward our ultimate goal of getting better each time we stepped on the court, and we certainly reached that goal. All 19 girls on the team pulled together, no matter their role, and did their part to make sure that we got better each day, and in that regard we succeeded. We will never have this same exact group of girls again, and I am so grateful that I was able to be a part of it. To our seniors, Ali and Schroeder, thank you so much for what you have done for this program in your 4 years. You both worked extremely hard and have certainly left your mark on BW basketball. You guys will be missed so much next year. I also wanted to thank everyone who came to our games and followed our team throughout the year. We are all so grateful for the level of support that we were given, and it helped to make the season one to remember. The loss is still fresh now, but I know I will always be able to look back and remember all of the different components, on and off the court, that made this year so special. "19 strong, in glory and defeat"

Now this is not the end...

Well, last night was a rough one. We played John Carroll in the 1st round of the OAC tournament, and sadly, did not come out on top. This means that we are done for the season, and our seniors, Amanda and Ali, are done with BW basketball, forever. This is so sad because they worked so hard all season, and this is not how we planned to end the season. We worked through a lot of adversity this year (injuries, tough losses, etc) and I am so proud of how we worked though all that. So, I'm saying thanks to the seniors for a wonderful year, even though we are done a lot sooner than we planned.
On a different note, in two weeks I'm having surgery to hopefully fix the pain I've been having in my shoulder all year. I'm slightly nervous, but so excited that I am going to be able to lift and get stronger for next year now. I hated not being able to lift all season, because I love lifting and conditioning and all that. My favorite practices of the year were definitely the ones where we ran sprints, I may be weird, but it's all good.:)
Well that's all for now, Thanks again Amanda and Ali, I'm going to miss you guys...

Hello Jacket Fans!
We played Capital at their place on Saturday and won. We had a bunch of young players really step up and it was such a fun game! We all played with so much urgency and energy. It felt so good for us to start playing well again. Kitty Cat Spisak had a rough game...she got an elbow to the eyebrow and had to get 5 stitches. :( It was the most blood I've ever seen in my life but she's tough and barely let it phase her. Even though it was swollen the size of a golf ball she still looked beautiful as always. :) Hopefully she can make a fast recovery! After the game we went to Monica's house in Bexley for dinner. We had some delicious stromboli, lasagna, salad, and cake. It was wonderful! Also, on the way home Coach treated us to Graeters ice cream! Sooooo good! So as you all can tell, Saturday was a great day to be a Yellow Jacket!!
We have Mount Wednesday and Ohio Northern Saturday to finish up league play and then the real season begins with the tournament. This is what we've been working so hard and preparing for the whole season and we're definitely ready to go! Lessssssss gooooooo Jackets :)

Study Break...

Hey everyone! Just thought I would take a break from my jam packed day of studying. We woke up this morning nice and early for our LAST 6 am practice of the year!! WOO! Although it is super early to get up, it does free up your day for some more activities. I spent my afternoon observing speech-language pathologists! I am required for my major to observe for 25 hours this semester and so far it is absolutely incredible! It gets me super excited for the future.
This past Sunday we all got together at Coach's house for a nice super bowl party. We had hot dogs, her famous buffalo dip, of course chips and french onion dip, chili, and a smorgasbord (that's a fun word haha) of desserts! Coach made up this game where our names were placed on a grid and at the end of each quarter who ever had the corresponding square with the current score of the game got to win some super cool B-W gear! It was a lot of fun to get everyone together. (Sorry Melissa and Heather that the Steelers just couldn't pull off the W lol )
Well, I should probably get back to my research paper, my reading assignments, and studying for art appreciation! hah!
BUZZZZZZ!!

Getting back on track

Hi Lady Yellow Jacket Fans --

If you have followed us recently, you know we have dropped two straight games in the heart of our OAC schedule. Things don't get any easier for us as we have Muskingum and John Carroll as our next two games. I know we are disappointed as we went from controlling our own destiny to now being back to square one in the league standings, but I am hoping that this gives us an opportunity to start fresh. I am not sure if the pressure of being on top got to us, but now we have nothing to lose, and have to go out and give 100% mentally and physically every night to get back on top. I know that we have a tough group of girls that HATE to lose and have worked way too hard since September to allow a few bad games cloud the potential that this season holds. The only thing we can do is focus on being the best team we can be every night, have everyone fulfill their role to the best of their ability, and be focused on what we need to accomplish every possession. We have found out how critical every possession is, and that if you waste them, you won't get them back.

I know that we have a lot of talent and that we play hard. If we can put the mental together with the physical, I know that we can be a GREAT team. I want our girls to know that our coaching staff believes in them, and know that we can get back on track starting today and do some pretty amazing things TOGETHER!

Have a great day everyone... AWWW JACKETS!
